District offices in Telangana set to get corporate makeover

The minister said that the government sanctioned Rs 119 crore for the constructions of camp offices of MLAs at assembly segments.

Hyderabad: The integrated district administration offices in newly formed districts will be having all amenities like in corporate offices, with a space between 1.2 lakh sft and 1.5 lakh sft.

Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Thursday said that the government has sanctioned Rs 1,032 crore for Collectorate buildings at all the districts.

“Nine district headquarters including Khammam, Nizamabad, Mahbubnagar, Warangal (Urban), Rangareddy, Siddipet, Kothagudem, Kamareddy and Medchal will have collectorates with 1.5 lakh sft of space. The other district buildings will have 1.2 lakh sft. Simultaneously, we are taking up works on collectors’ official bungalows, along with other officials’ quarters.

Collectors’ Bungalows will have 6,000 sft space, followed by Joint Collector (3,000 sft), DRO (2,500 sft) and other officials (1,500 sft). Today, we have called tenders for these works and we will complete the works in 12 months,” he said. The minister said that the government sanctioned Rs 119 crore for the constructions of camp offices of MLAs at assembly segments.

“The process is still on for land acquisition. Once we acquire land, we will begin the construction work. We called for tenders for 104 works out of 119, and we finalised tenders for 103 works,” he said. Meanwhile, the minister reviewed the ongoing constructions of 511 bridges and check dams with an estimated cost of Rs 2,495.5 crore. “So far, we have completed the works of 139 bridges and another 290 are under construction. We have directed officials to take up check dam works at all the bridges. So far, engineers have identified 150 bridges,” he said.

Principal secretary to Roads and Buildings, Sunil Sharma, engineer-in-chief Ganapathi Reddy, chief engineers Mahender Reddy, J.C.S. Reddy and other officials took part in the meeting.
