Bengaluru: Thousands of members of the AHIMSA (Minorities, Backward Classes and General Category) Vedike took out a rally from Freedom Park to Bengaluru Palace on Friday demanding immediate implementation of SC order on SC/ST job promotion. The agitators have threatened that they would boycott the coming Legislative Assembly elections, if their demands are not met.

The protesters said they have been fighting from past 25 years and the Supreme Court had struck down the consequential seniority in job promotion for SC/ ST communities in February early this year, bringing relief to 82 per cent of the state government employees awaiting promotion for long. The state government, however, is delaying to implement the SC order. The agitators, who come from various Hassan, Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar, threatened that they would refrain from casting their votes in the coming state elections if the government does not implement the order.
