Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R. Hari Kumar Visits Eastern Naval Command in Vizag
Visakhapatnam: Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral R. Hari Kumar arrived in Visakhapatnam on a two-day visit to the Eastern Naval Command on Tuesday. On arrival, Eastern Naval Command commanding-in-chief (C-in-C) Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar the naval chief regarding the ongoing operational issues and projects in the eastern area.
Later the Navy chief addressed the Station Commanders' Workshop being held at Visakhapatnam for the first time. This is the second edition of the workshop being attended for three days by all station commanders of the Indian Navy in the country.
Admiral Hari Kumar participated in 25th anniversary celebrations of INS Kora and interacted with the ships' personnel, apart from attending the traditional Barakhana. This event has particular significance as both the CNS and C-in-C have been former commanding officers of INS Kora.
The day also being the Mental Health Day, the Navy chief emphasised on the importance of sound mental health. This address got relayed online across all naval stations in the country.
Admiral Hari Kumar inaugurated a state-of-the-art emergency diesel generator facility at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam. This facility is capable of providing 7.5 MW of emergency power backup to all ships, submarines and industrial centres at the dockyard, apart from critical consumers of the naval base. The CNS interacted with the defence civilian workforce at the Naval Dockyard.
During his visit to INS Eksila, the Naval chief was apprised of Atma Nirbharta initiatives of the Indian Navy in maintenance, overhaul and spares management of gas turbine generators of Indian naval ships.
On Wednesday, Admiral Hari Kumar will interact with officers, sailors, and jawans, apart from inaugurating a defence civilian accommodation block at Pallava Park and an officers' transit accommodation block. These blocks with state-of-the-art facilities are expected to mitigate the shortfall in availability of married accommodation.
