CHENNAI: Chief Minister  Edappadi K Palaniswami said here on Tuesday that his visit to the huge high-tech livestock farm in Buffalo in the US, during his just-concluded three nation tour to attract more foreign investments for the state, was perhaps the most promising in terms of replicating the techniques at the mega-livestock park planned in Talaivasal in Salem district.

In a statement detailing the outcome of his visit to the UK, USA and Dubai, issued after his arrival here on Tuesday, and in his remarks at the airport, Palaniswami said after their UK engagement, their visit to the Buffalo livestock farm was extremely useful.

The massive farm there was an amazing experiment in cross-bred cattle which were high yielding in terms of milk and highly disease-resistant, Palaniswami said.  The cows in the Buffalo farm were yielding up to 70 litres per day per animal and the farm had a huge stock of 3,000 cows, yielding 1.20 lakh litres of milk per day, he said, adding, various other value-added products from the milk were also produced in the farm.

“We discussed the technologies involved in running such a massive, modern livestock farm and explored the feasibility of transferring some of those technologies to the new farm planned at Talaivasal in Salem district to be built to world standards,” Palaniswami said in his statement.

Detailing the various MoUs signed during his visit in the UK, USA and Dubai,  Palaniswami said when he was in New York, officials of Haldia Petrochemicals had met him and discussed a possible manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu including a naphtha cracker unit.

During his visit to the Tesla Inc facility in San Francisco, Mr. Palaniswami said the facility for making new generation electric cars were very impressive and “I requested them to start an electric vehicles manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu which will be environment friendly.” The meeting with “Business Leaders Forum” in Dubai was also very productive, the Chief Minister underscored.

“This trip provided an opportunity to make Tamil Nadu the numero uno state in India with the projects and technologies I had an opportunity to see helping to improve our State's overall infrastructure and economy in villages, towns and cities,” Palaniswami said and thanked everyone
who made this visit possible.
