Kottayam: Writer Sara Joseph has asked the women in the state to boycott Mr P. C. George, MLA, who has made insulting remarks against the nun who levelled rape charges against Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal.

She urged the women not to attend his public functions and added that the government should take strong legal  action against him.

Ms Joseph told DC that Mr George had raised similar allegations in the past too, including against the actress who was molested.

"He makes atrocious statements which the common man will not make. His latest remarks are appalling.  The  omen wonder whether none can rein in  such people," she
said and pointed out that  she was speaking the mind of the entire women.

"If it were an ordinary man, the police would have booked him now. They  are delaying action as he is an MLA," she said.

There was a tendency in the state to suppress the opinions of the women by casting personal aspersions against them through social networking sites and other means, she said.

"George and others of his ilk think that they can get away with such crude comments after a specific period. The government should never allow this to happen," she said."The media should decide whether people like George should be given space to carry on with their tirades," she added.
