Hyderabad: Justice P. Madhavi Devi of Telangana High Court on Friday asked the TS Public Service Commission (TSPSC) whether it proposed to postpone the Group-2 examination to any date other than August 29 and 30, when it is scheduled to be held. The court directed the commission to reply by Monday.

The judge was dealing with a petition seeking directions to the TSPSC to reschedule the Group 2 exams. Justice Madhavi Devi observed that the TSPSC was under an obligation to give an opportunity to the candidates to give their best.

Giridhar Rao, senior counsel, appearing for the petitioners informed the court that the TSPSC had scheduled the exam on August 29 and 30, in close proximity to nine other competitive examinations, including those being held by the Central government.

M. Rambhupal Rao, TSPSC counsel, said the commission had released the calendar in February; nearly 5.5 lakh students had enlisted for the examination to be held in 1,534 centres across the state. Arrangements had been made and the government had declared a holiday to educational institutes which were hosting exam centres on the two days.
