Heavy rainfall lashes Kadapa

Kurnool: Heavy rainfall has caused significant disruptions in Kadapa district, leading to flooding and inconvenience to the residents. The drainage system in Kadapa city struggled to manage the excessive rainwater, resulting in overflowing sewage canals.

This situation particularly affected areas like RTC Bus Stand Road, Ambedkar Junction and Court Road, and commuters had a difficult time.

In YSR district, Kamalapuram recorded the highest rainfall of 10.1 cm. Several mandals within the district, including Muddanur, Mydukur, Kadapa, Proddutur and Chintakommadinne experienced thundershowers in the early hours of Thursday.

 Anantapur district also had substantial rainfall, recording 7.5 cm, bringing relief to farmers. Mandals such as Yellanuru, BK Samudram and Guntal had significant rainfall.

In Kurnool, there was continuous downpour for 2-3 hours early in the morning. Various mandals in the district, including Kurnool urban, Kurnool rural, Kodumuru, Pathikonda, Gonegandla and Kouthalam received varying degrees of rainfall. Kodumur mandal recorded the highest rainfall at 4 cm.

In Nandyal district, Gadivemula experienced 4.5 cm rainfall, followed by Nandyal, Mahanandi, Koilakuntla, Bandi Atmakur and Allagadda.

An elderly woman, Savitramma, lost her life after the roof of her hutment collapsed on her during the heavy rain in Alluru village of Nandikotkur mandal. The incident occurred when she was sleeping at home. There was continuous rain from Wednesday night to Thursday morning. Nandikotkur Tahsildar Rajasekhar Babu visited the spot of the roof-collapse death.
