Private medical colleges want fees hike in Telangana

Colleges wanted a uniform fee structure as in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where the annual fee was between Rs 4 and Rs 5 lakh.

Hyderabad: Private Medical Colleges in Telangana seek hike of management quota (B category) fee to Rs 11 lakh per year against the present fee of Rs 9 lakh.

Fee revision in private medical colleges is due  this year. Their managements submitted  annual reports for the last three years to the Admission Fee Regulation panel. There are 15 medical colleges in fray including three minority institutions. Colleges wanted a uniform fee structure as in Karnataka and Maharashtra, where the annual fee was between Rs 4 and Rs 5 lakh.

In Telangana, there is a three-tier structure, with A category (convener quota) fee being Rs 60,000, B category (management quota) with Rs 9 lakh and C category at Rs 11 lakh per annum.
