Rajahmundry: Noted Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham was booked for attempt to commit suicide by the police at Kirlampudi police station.

It may be mentioned that as the Kapu leader staged hunger strike by keeping a bottle of pesticide in his hand at his residence at Kirlampudi village in East Godavari on Thursday.

When the police broke opened the doors of his house to arrest him, he opened the cap of bottle and tried to consume it. But the police thwarted his attempt and shifted him to government hospital in Rajahmundry.

On the other hand, the CID sleuths intend to arrest him but not immediately as he is the prime accused in several cases booked on Tuni violence.

Meanwhile the health condition of Mudragada seems to be slowly deteriorating as he is continuing his hunger strike for the second consecutive day without even taking a gulp of water. At present, his health condition is stable, the doctors said.
