Hyderabad: Heatwave to end, brace for thunderstorms, says IMD

Twelve people are reported to have died of the heat in Warangal and Adilabad districts and the temperature touched 46ºC.

Hyderabad: The heatwave alert ends on Saturday and the weather bureau has put out a fresh caution, this time for thunderstorms, from Sunday till May 14.

Twelve people are reported to have died of the heat in Warangal and Adilabad districts and the temperature touched 46ºC.

On Friday, the city recorded 42.5ºC. Nalgonda and Ramagundam were the hottest at 44.5ºC. On Saturday, the IMD forecast heatwave conditions over several north Telangana districts.

From May 12, there is a possibility lightning accompanied by gusty winds of up to 40 kmph at isolated places over Telangana, the IMD said. The thunderstorm is due to a trough stretching from north interior Odisha to Rayalaseema.
