Rahul Gandhi cancels visit to Puducherry and Tamil Nadu
Mr Gandhi's cancellation comes days after he received to have received an assassination threat in a letter written in Tamil.
Chennai: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi cancelled his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for campaigning citing ill-health, days after he received a threat for his life during his visit to the union territory.
The Congress vice-president apologised for cancelling the visits, saying that he had been running a high fever since Sunday and has been advised rest by doctors for the next two days.
"Unfortunately I have been down with high fever since Sunday and the Doctor has advised rest for the next two days," the Congress," Mr Gandhi tweeted.
He was scheduled to campaign in Puducherry and in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday before going to Kerala, which also goes to polls on May 16.
Mr Gandhi's cancellation comes days after he received to have received an assassination threat in a letter written in Tamil. The Congress had on Monday petitioned Home Minister Rajnath Singh asking him to enhance security for Mr Gandhi.
