Stray dog bites 20 people in Guntur

The locals are lamenting the absence of dog sterilisation as the cause for increase in dog menace.

GUNTUR: As many as 20 people were injured in an attack by a stray dog at Lingamguntla in Pedakurapadu of Guntur district on Friday. The locals are lamenting the absence of dog sterilisation as the cause for increase in dog menace and urged the officials to save the public from dog bites. According to reports, 12 people sustained multiple dog bites and rest of the persons received simple injuries. Pedakurapadu primary health centre medical officer Dr Y. Adinarayana examined the victims and started  treatment to the dog bite victims.

Dr Adinarayana said that G. Madanna, M. Chittemma, A. Lakshmi Devi and others came to Lingamguntla to work in the fields as labourers from Kurnool district.  Similarly T. Vasu, Md Shaheed, U. Maheswara Rao and others were injured due to stray dog attack at Pedakurapadu village  and the remaining people were sent them to their house after being treated.  He added he has informed about the incidents to local officials about dog bites and suggested appropriate action.
