Rajahmundry: CPM national general secretary Sitaram Yechury has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly serving as brand ambassador to Reliance company by raising the slogan of ‘Jio Hind’ instead of Jai Hind to proclaim his commitment to safeguard the interests of farmers and the poor in the country. Addressing the supporters at the 25th CPM state-level meet at Bhimavaram in West Godavari on Saturday, the CPM stalwart castigated the BJP led NDA regime for introducing GST to benefit only the corporate sector.

He alleged that demonetisation helped four to five global online marketing firms that were influencing the global trade while small scale units turned bankrupt. Referring to the Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance Bill 2017, he asserted that the Centre’s move to bring out such a Bill appeared to give away the hard savings of common people to benefit the corporate sector.

Mr Yechury urged the people to oppose the Bill vehemently. Being critical at BJP’s claim of scam-free governance in the country, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the CPM senior leader asked the Centre as to why it was unable to announce the scam dealing with Rafale deal officially and took a dig at Union minister for Defence Nirmala Sitharaman for trying to evade from the issue.

Referring to the BJP’s election promise to generate two crore jobs in the country, he alleged that the people were losing their existing jobs due to anti-people policies being adopted by the Centre. With regard to Centre’s failure to waive off the farm loans even as farmers were committing suicide after suffering loss, especially in MP, UP and Rajasthan, claiming that they were not having money to do so, the CPM leader wondered as to how the Centre could make an official statement in Parliament on cancellation of corporate loans worth around Rs 2 lakh crore.

The CPM national general secretary alleged that the BJP was conspiring to dethrone the CPM led Leftist government in Tripura even as the state was going for elections very shortly and alleged that BJP national president Amit Shah was scheduled to camp in Tripura to disburse huge amount of money to stir up disputes between tribals and non-tribals. The CPM leader faulted both the TD and the BJP for failing to safeguard the interests of the people and asked them as to what they wanted to achieve in alliance with each other. Yechury appreciated the AP people for fighting unitedly for getting special category status to the state.
