Valentine's Day: Wave parties proposed on river

For the couples of Vijayawada who have hardly any place to hang out on the Valentines Day, here is a special candlelight and wave dinner on a tiny barge floating on the waters of Krishna River upstream Prakasam Barrage. A private event management firm which offers candlelight dinners and other such services on the River Krishna came up with the special service of wave dinner party for couples, where two persons can sit over a table and have food in candlelight while floating on the water amid music for two hours.

A rescue boat would follow the couple availing the service and life jackets would be provided, according to the organisers. The firm claims of having launched the regular candlelight dinner on River Krishna in 2013 and organised over 120 such dinners with much success.  On the other hand, APTDC recently started candlelight dinner on the Bodhisiri boat for the visitors of Bhavani Island. However, the boat service is temporarily halted due to various problems.

APTDC has initiated several services in the recent past but the construction of a flyover outside the entrance of Berm Park is affecting the number of visitors to the park and Bhavani Island. The organisers of the wave party on River Krishna expect that it would be a grand success with young couples who want to spend the Valentine’s Day together on the river.
