Kochi: The CBI on Wednesday submitted before Kerala High Court that CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan, the 25th accused in the murder of RSS leader Kathirur Manoj, is the brain behind the  case.

“Jayarajan is the central source, kingpin and mastermind of  the deadliest criminal conspiracy hatched out by the accused persons to eliminate the victim and defy law and order by casting terror among the public,”  the  CBI affidavit said.

The CBI made the submission on the anticipatory bail plea filed by Mr Jayarajan. A division bench comprising Justice K.T. Sanakaran and Justice K.P. Jyothindranath  asked the CBI to produce the case diary and  mark the relevant portions showing the role of Mr Jayarajan, if any, in the case.

The CBI argued that Mr Jayarajan was  prone to employ terror tactics to intimidate the law enforcing agency and  obstruct lawful investigation.  “He had even gone to the extent of raising mass resistance by using CPM  cadres at his command to prevent investigation reaching  him and the co-accused,” the  CBI said.

It  had booked him under several sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention ) Act.  Mr  Jayarajan had moved the Thalassery sessions court which dismissed his anticipatory bail plea.

The CBI said that there are serious incriminating material collected in establishing the complicity of Mr Jayarajan as member participant in the crime.
