TADA Act for illegal sand sale in AP

Vijayawada: The AP Cabinet on Saturday ordered action under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA), which was allowed to lapse in 1995, on the sand mafia.
The decision came after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who chaired the meeting, noted that preventive measures to curb the sand mafia and provide sand free of cost were not sucessful. He expressed his dissatisfaction at officials for not being able to implement the free sand policy.
The Cabinet also took a serious view of the APIIC for proposing land allocations at higher prices and instructed it to bring them down. It approved land allocations through APIIC to various organisations in all most all districts.
The Cabinet decided to take stringent action on agriculture colleges that were running without permission and suggested the constituting an inquiry committee.
