Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-based businessman who complained against revenue officials for demanding a bribe was arrested by the Hyderabad police on Sunday, for allegedly creating fake documents of land and trying to claim ownership.

In June this year, Syed Abdul Khaled of Mir Alam Mandi had complained to the Anti-Corruption Bureau that Shaikpet revenue inspector K Nagarjuna Reddy had demanded Rs 30 lakh bribe to settle an issue over ownership of 4,865 sq yards of land located on Road no. 14 of Banjara Hills.

Following the arrest of Nagarjuna Reddy while taking a Rs 15 lakh bribe, ACB officials also arrested sub-inspector Ravinder who was working at the Banjara Hills police station for demanding Rs 3 lakh bribe, and subsequently raids were conducted at the house of tahsildar Ch Sujatha and she was arrested on June 8.

About 10 days after Sujatha's arrest, her husband Vijay Kumar committed suicide by jumping from a building at Gandhi Nagar.

The Central Crime Station police said ACB officials lodged a complaint against Syed Abdul Khaled and his legal advisor A Ashok Reddy, stating that Khaled was involved in forging documents and attempted to grab government land.

The accused claimed that his father purchased the land in 1969, and fabricated the documents. The revenue officials also filed complaints against the accused duo at Golkonda and Banjara Hills police station for similar offences.

On Sunday, accused Khaled and Ashok were arrested and further investigation is underway by the While Collar Offences wing of the CCS, said the officials.
