Lucknow: The opposition is up in arms over the police officials in Uttar Pradesh going on helicopter rides in western Uttar Pradesh to shower rose petals on ‘kanwariyas’. Video clips of ADG (Meerut zone) Prashant Kumar, in his uniform, throwing rose petals from the helicopter have gone viral on the social media and had led to a major controversy with opposition demanding action.

The officials claimed that they were doing an aerial survey of the ‘Kanwariya’ yatra and showered petals on the devotees as a goodwill gesture. It may be recalled that during a similar aerial survey, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had also showered petals on ‘kanwariyas’. The ADG had tweeted his video of showering petals but later deleted the same. The video clip is now available on YouTube.
