Hyderabad: A man who had trespassed into the property of another person was arrested by the Gachibowli police on Tuesday. Drama prevailed at Gopanpally when accused Nawaz’s wife Yasmeen Sulthana consumed phenyl and threatened to kill herself when the police detained her husband.

The police received a complaint from one G. Paulu, a resident of Kondapur, that Nawaz and his wife Yasmeen Sulthana had trespassed into his plot of land at Sofa Colony. They claimed ownership of the property, damaged some walls and threatened him.

The police asked the couple to move court if they had an issue. Nawaz, arrested earlier in three similar cases, failed to cooperate and was detained.

Yasmeen was given a notice under Section 41 (a) of CrPC but she refused to take it. She went to the plot and consumed phenyl, threatening to kill herself. She was rushed to a hospital and is stated to be stable.

Gachibowli inspector R. Srinivas said the couple was involved in criminal activities for quite some time. Nawaz was placed under the arrest and a proposal is being sent to open a suspect sheet against him, said the inspector.
