Masjids get Iftar gift from Telangana

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will host an Iftar party on behalf of the State Government at the Nizam College Grounds on June 18.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Government has released Rs 1 lakh each to 432 masjids in the city, for them to host Iftar parties on June 18. 

The government has sanctioned a total of Rs 4.8 crore for this purpose. Each masjid has also been sanctioned 500 gift packs containing new clothes to be distributed to Muslims for Ramzan. 

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will host an Iftar party on behalf of the State Government at the Nizam College Grounds on June 18. 

Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav held a meeting with masjid committees, local corporators and officials at the Secretariat on Friday, to discuss the arrangements for the Iftar parties being hosted and sponsored by the State Government. He said that 2.16 lakh gift packs have been prepared for distribution in masjids on June 16.  

“The Telangana Government has been hosting Iftar parties and distributing gift packs to people during Ramzan since the formation of Telangana state in 2014. The State Government has been giving equal importance to and officially celebrating the major festivals of all religions, to promote communal harmony in the state. This practice will continue in the future,” he said.
