Hyderabad: Alert Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel rescued an engineering student who attempted suicide at the Secunderabad railway station on Friday.

At 11.45 am, a GRP patrol noticed the youth, 21, on the tracks a few hundred metres away from the railway station towards Kazipet. They rushed to the spot and pulled way.

They took him the GRP police station and counselled him. On inquiry, the youth from Bachupally in the city revealed that he was attempting to take his life over financial problems. The GRP personnel informed his parents and, after counselling, handed him over to his family.
