The bench of Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili and Justice Pulla Karthik heard the petition filed by a nine-year-old represented by his maternal grandfather that his mother, who was missing, be produced. The police produced her in the court and the bench observed that she was deserted by her husband and was willfully living away from her maternal home. She said that her parents had forcefully taken away her son. When questioned, the child chose to stay with his maternal grandparents. The bench granted liberty to the two parties to settle the issue and closed the petition.

Don’t restrict movement of villagers at acquired lands, Siddipet police told

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court directed the Siddipet police commissioner to allow the petitioners to access the Husnabad to Ramavaram road without any hindrance for carrying on their daily activities of agriculture and free movement to Husnabad town following heavy police deployment. A writ plea was filed by B. Bhaskar and three others seeking to declare the action of the commissioner as illegal and arbitrary.

A lunch motion was moved before Justice Reddy. The petitioners contended that the houses and lands of their village are under acquisition for over 10 years in the name of Gouravelli reservoir. They contended that there were several disputes and cases were pending on the acquisition before various courts. Till date, payment of compensation and R&R entitlements were not fully completed and the acquisition proceedings did not attain finality, they said. Some of the affected persons challenged the illegal construction activities at the project site without statutory permissions.

In view of the high-handedness of the police, the judge granted the interim order. The petitioners complained that if the authorities were allowed to complete the bund portion of the reservoir, access to their farm lands and their houses would be cut off, putting their life at a great risk as the road from Husnabad to Ramavaram would be closed.
