Alappuzha: Animal husbandry and dairy development minister K. Raju on Saturday claimed that the state had made "maximum relief available" to flood-hit dairy farmers.

"Considering the flood situation in Kuttanad every year, elevated cattle sheds will be made available in Kavalam panchayat," he said inaugurating Govardhini project and a veterinary hospital on Kavalam grama panchayat ground.

"The government has also decided to introduce nighttime service of veterinarians to 25 block panchayats."

The hospital was built on the land owned by the panchayat. At least 30 farmers in the area will get benefited from the Govardhini project launched six years back to achieve self-sufficiency in the dairy sector.

A seminar on animal husbandry was also held as part of the function.
