Karnataka High Court gets five new Judges

With this, the strength of High Court judges is now 30 as against the sanctioned 62.

Bengaluru: A day after advocates withdrew their relay hunger strike demanding to fill up the vacancies of high court judges, the President Ramnath Kovind has appointed five advocates as additional judges to the Karnataka High Court.

With this, the strength of High Court judges is now 30 as against the sanctioned 62.

Justice Dinesh Maheshwari who was recently transferred as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court is scheduled to take oath on February 12.

The five advocates who are appointed as additional high court judges are (i) Dixit Krishna Shripad, (ii) Shankar Ganapathi Pandit, (iii) Ramakrishna Devdas (iv) Bhotanhosur Mallikarjuna Shyam Prasad, and (v) Siddappa Sunil Dutt Yadav, for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their offices.
