Journalist VM Sathish cremated

Kottayam: Journalist V.M. Sathish, 54, of Vazhiyilparampil, who died in Sharjah on Wednesday,   was cremated in the compound of his house at Kurichy on Friday evening.  His son Ashok Kumar lit the funeral pyre. Hundreds of people from various walks of life, including journalists from West Asia and various parts of the state paid their last respects to him  at his house.

His body was brought to the  Nedumbassery airport  on Friday  morning and kept at the Kottayam press club in the  afternoon for some time. Journalists Biju Abel Jacob, Elvis Chummar and Riyas Khan representing the journalist community in the UAE accompanied the body. He had worked  in the Indian Express in Mumbai as a reporter  and covered West Asia for over two decades. CPM district secretary V.N. Vasavan and  CPI leader V.B. Binu paid homage to him at  the press club. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala visited his residence.
