Chennai: 7 held for trying to sell infant girl

The police identified Lakshmi of Hyderabad and Fakrudeen as attempting to sell the baby.

Chennai: Seven persons including a woman were arrested on charge of attempt to sell a three-month-old girl baby in Thiruvallur. Police arrested them following tip off from a women's association.

According to sources, the cops received a tip off regarding child trafficking in Putlur railway station in Thirukovilur. Based on this, the railway police and cops conducted a raid and found a group was attempting to buy the baby. The cops rounded up seven persons.

The police identified Lakshmi of Hyderabad and Fakrudeen as attempting to sell the baby.

The cops admitted the baby and her mother in a home and are conducting an investigation. Sources said several child trafficking cases are pending against Lakshmi.
