Unite to dislodge BJP government, dissolve NIA: Popular Front of India

Chennai: The Popular Front of India has called upon all secular forces and anti fascist organisations to join hands and throw out the BJP government at the Centre, which is “resorting to unethical and undemocratic means to curb the right to free thinking education.” It also sought the dissolution of the NIA.

A resolution passed at the “Declaration of Rights Conference” of the PFI held at the YMCA grounds at Royapettah, here on Sunday evening with the front’s chairman E. Abubacker in the chair, urged “all pro secular, anti fascist coalitions and organisations to unite and act firmly to save our society from the evil forces of fascism”, It also demanded that the Centre dissolve the NIA in view of its right leaning tendencies. While appealing to honour and safeguard the autonomous rights of states which are under threat from the central government, the conference sought the release of prisoners who have completed 10 years in jail. “Their release should be without any bias towards the  person’s caste or religion and on the virtue of the time spent in jail and good conduct,” yet another resolution said.

 “We should extend our helping hand to the suffering Rohingya refugees on humanitarian grounds”, it said. Withdrawing NEET, abolition of black laws including UAPA which violates human rights and used to target and victimise certain sections of the Indian population, condemning target killings of senior journalists including the recent murder of Gauri Lankesh by right wing forces, plea to revive Wakf Boards, increasing reservation for Muslims to 7 % from the present 3.5 % to give equal representation, fulfilling the legitimate demands of Tamil Nadu farmers, putting an end to the false and baseless Love Jihad propaganda, which is vindictive and an appeal to preserve the nation’s great educational institutions from the fascist Sangh Parivar who are resorting to unethical and undemocratic means to curb the right to free thinking education.
