BBMP designates maternity hospital for COVID positive pregnant women

BBMP has designated 24 bedded Wilson Garden maternity hospital to manage Covid suspect cases including OT facilities

With the Covid positive graph surging in Bengaluru, there have been several cases of pregnant women during ANC, postnatal period seeking health care at the hospitals, run by the civic agency Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagare Palike (BBMP), being tested Covid -19 positive at some point of time following which several hospitals are closed temporarily for sanitisation.   

Though the swab collection is done for all pregnant women 15 days period to the estimated date of delivery (EDD), the BBMP admitted that due to practical difficulties either the swab collection is done late or the report is delayed.
On Wednesday, BBMP commissioner, B.H. Anil Kumar designated 24 bedded Wilson Garden maternity hospital to manage Covid suspect cases including O.T facilities.

12 employees of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) were tested positive and one had died due to Covid on Wednesday.

Five policemen have died in the line of duty while fighting the pandemic and 395 have been tested positive. While 190 personnel have recovered, 200 are still under treatment. 20 police stations including Commercial street, K.G. Halli traffic police station, Cottonpete and Chickepete have been sealed.

As on June 8, the number of containment zones in the city had climbed to 3,187.
