KALABURAGI: The Second Additional District and Sessions Court, on Friday concluded hearing of defence and government advocates with regard to the alleged ragging of Ashwathi, a BSc Nursing student of Al-Qamar Nursing College, and rejected bail applications of the accused number one and two, while granting the bail to the third accused Krishna Priya.

The court rejected the bail applications of Lakshmi and Athira based on the submission of a report by the special investigating team headed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Janhavi. In the report, the victim has stated that while Lakshmi and Athira had a direct role in forcing her drink the toilet cleaner, Krishna Priya only made her ‘dance and sing’.

Further the prosecution lawyer had contended that if the bail was granted, the accused may threaten the victim and influence those who have given statements against them. Meanwhile the Judge has extended the judicial custody of Lakshmi and Athira to July 22. The defence advocate for the accused Avinaszey would move the high court for bail application.

Earlier in the day, Krishna Priya fainted and fell on the court premises when she was being taken there along with two other accused students. She also vomited, following which the Judge took up the case and passed the order.

While granting her bail, the Judge has directed Krishna Priya to give a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh, besides two local sureties. She has also been directed not to leave the headquarter without court's permission and appear before the investigating tem whenever needed.
