HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Friday directed Advocate-General B.S. Prasad to provide details of the probe special investigation team (SIT) probe into the leakage of question papers of recruitment exams, so that it could assess the progress in the case and determine if there were lacunae which would necessitate a probe by an independent agency like the CBI.

Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy said: “Prima facie, this court should be satisfied with the investigation done by the SIT till now and have confidence in the investigation done.”

The judge was adjudicating a petition filed by Dr Balmoori Venkat Narsing Rao, NSUI Telangana state president, and another who had filed a writ petition seeking a direction to the CBI to probe the recent assistant engineer question paper leak case.

J. Sudheer, counsel for the petitioner in one of the writ petitions, sought a direction to hand over the investigation to the CBI as the TSPSC had failed in performing its duty of holding competitive examinations.

Justice Bhaskar Reddy, after hearing the contentions of counsel for the petitioner and the AG, directed file the filing of a consolidated counter affidavit on the SIT probe within three weeks.
