HYDERABAD: Distribution of the famous fish prasadam has resumed at Nampally exhibition grounds in Hyderabad after a three year hiatus caused by Covid pandemic.

The distribution was inaugurated by minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday.

Organisers arranged five quintals of fish and expect five lakh people to avail the prasadam, which is believed to provide relief to asthma.

The Telangana government provided all required facilities to hassle-free distribution of fish prasadam.

The Bathani family has been distributing fish prasadam free of cost for the last 177 years on the day of Mrugashira Karthe, while jealously guarding its formula.

Called fish medicine earlier, it faced wrath of NGOs who opposed labelling it as medicine. After a slew of court cases, the organisers began to call it fish prasadam.
