Anantapur: 4 attempt suicide, two die

Anantapur: Four members of a family, including a woman, her son and her two brothers,   attempted suicide late on Tuesday night. While the two brothers died on the spot, the woman and her son are battling for life at the hospital in Gorantla mandal headquarters.

All the four drank cool drink laced with a poisonous chemical and fell unconscious at the burial ground on the outskirts Gorantla.

The villagers saw the four lying unconscious only in the morning on Wednesday and alerted the police.

By the time the cops reached the place, Mohand and Somasekhar breathed their last.

Police shifted Ramakrishnamma and Venugopal to Hindupur district area hospital and later to Anantapur general hospital as their condition turned critical.

Sources said  G. Ramakrishnamma, 42,  a divorcee and her son G.Venugopal have been staying with her two brothers Mohan, 26 and Somsekhar, 30, in their own house at Gorantla. Ramakrishnamma has one more brother and two sisters.

After taking divorce from her husband, she began living with her two brothers, who were reportedly disturbed over not getting married.

Further, Ramakrishnamma and her siblings were having a dispute over the property. Frustrated over the existing situation, she, her son and brothers tried to end their life.

Gorantla police registered a case and began investigation into the case.
