Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University has been in existence for 18 years, but it is yet to develop itself into a brand good enough for its students to land high-paying jobs. That's the case even with its management stream, a department that is in existence for over a decade.

In December, the central university held a job fair in which 30 companies participated. There were just three to four well-known multinationals, and the maximum salary on offer was Rs 3.2 lakh per annum. Shockingly, one of the jobs on offer was of a delivery boy for two e-commerce giants. As many as 70 students secured job offers, including 15 MBA and 10 MCA students.

A student from the management stream said, “We joined Manuu hoping for jobs with good salaries in prominent companies. We feel envious when we hear about good salary packages being offered to MBA students from University of Hyderabad.” A student from the Computer Science and IT department said, “Even though Manuu is located in the heart of Cyberabad, major IT companies do not step in for recruitments.”

Prof Mohammed Abdul Azeem, Dean, School of Commerce and Business Management, said, "Manuu needs to do more of brand development. Many companies do not know much about the university or have never heard of it. The placement cell was formed just eight months ago. As we progress, we expect placement scenario to be better.”
