Nellore: Nellore City legislator, Dr Anil Kumar Yadav, advised the government to protect the interests of Backward Classes while extending reservation to Kapu community.

Expressing solidarity with Kapu Reservation Porata Samiti activists, who are on a relay hunger strike, here on Monday, he attributed the unrest in Kapu community to failure of Chief Minister to honour his promise.

The legislator also found fault with the BC leader and TD legislator R. Krishnaiah for raising hue and cry on the issue now while referring to his silence when Chandrababu Naidu announced in 2014 about including Kapus in BC list.

He observed that everyone would have respected Krishnaiah if he had raised objections against the move immediately after it was proposed.

Dr Anil advised the BC leader to restrain from hurting the feelings of Kapu community and told the Chief Minister to follow Ta-mil Nadu system to extend reservations to Kapus.

Meanwhile the Kapu Reservation Porata Samiti activists winded off their stir as their leader Mudragada Padmanabham gave up the indefinite fast on Monday.
