Hyderabad: On the instructions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu on Tuesday handed over an appointment letter to Satyalatha, wife of constable Songa Shekhar who died in a road accident while on duty on September 30, 2021.

Police appointed Satyalatha as a junior assistant in the Rachakonda police commissionerate.

The BRS government had turned down her application for a job on humanitarian grounds because she hailed from Andhra Pradesh, Sudheer Babu said in a release.

The family recently highlighted their problem during a public radio programme of the state government, which went to the attention of Revanth Reddy.

Following this, the Chief Minister directed DGP Ravi Gupta to relax the norms and give Satyalatha a job, Sudheer Babu said. The family expressed their gratitude to Revanth Reddy, the DGP and the Rachakonda police commissioner.
