Hyderabad: Though applicants for the 2BHK housing scheme have been told to apply only through Mee Seva centres, the centres have been fleecing the urban poor in the city. The cost of the application is Rs 35, but several centres have been demanding Rs 100 to Rs 200 from applicants. Worse still, some agents are luring citizens with promises of selling the 2BHK houses for Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, immediately after construction is completed.

Several messages have been circulating on WhatApp with pictures of the under construction 2BHK houses and their location with a price attached to each house.

Hyderabad District Collector M. Raghunandan Rao has appealed to citizens not to pay higher amounts to Mee Seva centres and not to believe the rumours circulating on WhatApp.

He said a video conference was held with Mee Seva centre associations and they were warned that action would be taken against them if such irregularities were repeated.
