Kozhikode: The excise department in its recent directive has issued an order to the public that no New Year or Christmas party must be organised in the district without prior permission from the department.

The decision was made in the light of the stringent checking ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations, we have formed teams to crack down any kinds of such violations in the district,” the officials said. To coordinate the enforcement activities and liaison with the public, a district-level control room that works round-the-clock has been opened at the district headquarters.  The details of the contact numbers to the control rooms in the respective regions will be available in the official website of the Excise department, they further added.

The officials have also decided to intensify search operations along the coastal areas of the district, and also conduct surprise checks in boats and canoes fishing off the sea.
