Vijayawada: Bapatla district superintendent of police (SP) Vakul Jindal has warned of strict action against those who sell Diwali firecrackers without a licence. On Tuesday, the SP conducted a surprise inspection of godowns storing Diwali firecrackers in Akkaipalem village, Vetapalem police station, Bapatla district. He verified the licences taken from the government to store Diwali firecrackers and inspected stock limits and security measures.

The SP warned that strict action would be taken against anyone who illegally manufactured, supplied, or sold firecrackers without a licence in the district. In the last three days, police have seized Diwali firecrackers illegally stored in Bapatla and Addanki towns.

The SP said that no one in the district should sell, store, or manufacture Diwali firecrackers without a licence. Those who wanted to sell firecrackers during Diwali should obtain temporary permits and sell only at the places prescribed by the government. They must also keep water, sand, and other firefighting materials ready at their shops.

The SP warned that legal action would be taken against anyone who violated government orders and sold firecrackers in public places or without permits.
