Hyderabad: The renewed protests and relay hunger strike by students of the English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) continued for a second day on Tuesday, with students demanding justice for a female student who was sexually assaulted on campus.

The incident took place on October 18, when the victim was waylaid by two unidentified men during her after-dinner walk.

Protesters on Tuesday said the administration was yet to respond and was, instead, spreading misinformation about students, with a false narrative. Despite over two weeks elapsing since the incident, the culprits are yet to be identified.

The administration, for its part, has asked students to provide any information or lead about the incident or the culprits. However, students said this was just an eyewash.

A protesting student said, “Since there has been no action from the administration or the police even after two weeks of protests, it is clear that they neither fully understand the concerns of the students or what sexual assault is.”

Students said they were outraged by the Proctor allegedly terming the sexual assault as a “small incident” and even more so with a deputy dean for revealing the victim’s name in the classroom.

Protesters maintained that their protest for a fair investigation, withdrawal of false cases filed against students, repeal of show cause notices to students, resignation of the Proctorial board and resignation of the Vice Chancellor would continue.
