Bengaluru: The stretched wet conditions will have its effect on this year’s winter too, with city getting colder than earlier years. Mr Srinivas said, “Looking at the present system, winter that officially commences from December and extends up to February might be a bit harsh. The nature of winter depends on rains in October and November. State's average rainfall during the Northeast Monsoon is 180mm and we have already crossed 25 percent of the normal."

Average minimum and maximum temperatures in the state range between 14 and 15 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 30 and 32 degrees Celsius (maximum). With incessant rains, there is a cool atmosphere facilitating the growth of vegetation. This year, minimum and maximum temperatures might range between 8 and10 degrees Celsius (minimum) and 32 and 33 degrees Celsius (maximum), he said.
