Bengaluru: Brushing aside mental health taboos

Around 250 volunteers came together for Art Express, a two-day paint fest, to create awareness.

BENGALURU: In line with World Suicide Prevention Day, volunteers in the city came together to create awareness about mental health by painting the walls of C.V. Raman Hospital in Indiranagar  on Saturday.

Around 250 volunteers came together for Art Express, a two-day paint fest, to create awareness about suicide prevention and mental health by using the power of colours. Art Express, headed by  Neerja Birla and Mpower, a pioneer in Indian mental healthcare in association with Chal Rang De, an NGO used the power of colours to bring the city in union to challenge the perception created around mental health and make it taboo-free, while having some fun doing it.

Volunteers transformed cemented walls into creative masterpieces from imagination around powerful messages and slogans about suicide prevention and importance of mental health. They unleashed their creativity by revamping walls while challenging the misconceptions around suicide prevention with this initiative.
