Diversions, delays galore on Bengaluru's inner ring road

Bengaluru: Travelling on the intermediate ring road is nothing short of a nightmare for the Adugodi traffic police, traffic wardens and motorists alike. While the KPTCL cable laying work has reached Jaipuria Junction, (near Ooty Chocolate/Panasonic), the resultant bottleneck means a double whammy for traffic cops. Unruly motorists, commuters on bikes and autorickshaws rule the roost. These offenders are adding to the administrative misery, flouting traffic rules by entering one-way zones, speeding and cutting across medians.

The ongoing work for the elevated flyover has impacted scores of people, who take routes via Adugodi, Ejipura, Jakkasandra, Kormangala 100 feet Road, Sony Junction, National games Village, Kormangala Club, BDA Kormangala and Sudduguntepalya.

According to the Adugodi traffic police, “KPTCL cable laying work has reached Jaipuria Junction. (Ooty Chocolate/Panasonic), and is creating a bottleneck. We are closing the median at BDA Jn. to ensure traffic movement towards Water Tank Jn. on 100ft road from Sony World Jn. as smooth as possible.”

There are diversions made for motorists coming from 8th main, who have been  advised to turn left, as the right turn towards Sukh Sagar has been closed. Now, the commuters will have to turn left and then take a U-turn at the Water Tank. Commuters coming from the Water Tank will find there is no right-turn at the BDA Junction and will have to turn at the 8th Main instead.

A traffic police official said that the work will take another 20 days to complete. Therefore, an advisory has been issued telling motorists to avoid 100ft road, Koramangala for the next 20 days as much as possible. When asked about the heavy vehicles like concrete mixers and others parked on the road hence hampering the traffic flow, the official said that the workers can’t remove or park it anywhere else. They need the vehicles to carry out the work or transport material.
