CHENNAI: DMK president M. K. Stalin has claimed that the countdown for the collapse of the Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led government in Tamil Nadu has begun and the State will see a new government under DMK at the helm immediately after Congress president Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister.

“You may wonder how. This Lok Sabha election will see the trouncing of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre and a new government will be in its place with Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. Immediately thereafter, the Edappadi Palaniswami government here will fall and DMK will come to power. This is bound to happen,” Stalin said while addressing a rally in his constituency Kolathur here on Sunday.

The DMK chief who returned to the city after hectic campaigning in the districts for about 20 days, said the AIADMK government is surviving because of Modi’s support. When Modi’s government is dislodged, automatically the Palaniswami government would collapse. Campaigning for his party’s candidate for North Chennai Lok Sabha constituency Dr. Kalanidhi Veerasamy, he said as member representing his Kolathur Assembly constituency he has been frequenting the constituency and spending more time there than any other lawmaker would. “You all know that I had been Chennai mayor twice. I had initiated several developmental programmes including elevating the Corporation schools on par with the leading private schools. I made the corporation schools the most sought after,” he said and urged the people to vote Dr. Kalanidhi for more development.
