Students resent CBSE re-exam, blame government

The CBSE's three-language will continue till Class 10 against the current practice of letting students choose their second language other than English after Class 8.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBSE's decision to hold re-examination for the economics paper of class 12 may prove costly to the BJP-led central government.  Many students took out a march to the CBSE regional office at Pattom here on Saturday in protest against the re-test scheduled for April 25 and pledging to vote against the BJP in the next general elections.  A girl student of St. Thomas Central School told  DC that she has to write the sociology exam on April 10and the economics re-exam on 25th.  She was also busy with her preparations for  the five-year embedded developmental science entrance exam of IIT Chennai on  April 15.

"All my plans have gone haywire. The entrance exam to various streams under CUSAT will be held  duringApril 26 - 28.  I am juggling between  board exams and entrance exams when I should have been  devoting time for the entrance exams. I will not vote for the BJP as a first time voter in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections," she  said on condition of anonymity. A  boy student of the same school told DC that he had lost his  peace of mind.  He had  taken commerce stream and was soon expected to leave for his higher studies in design in US.  He is worried about his future prospects as the  results will be  delayed.

"I will  take my IELTS exam on April 24 and the next day I have to appear for the economics re-exam. Neither the CBSE nor the BJP government tendered an apology and the culprits behind the question paper have been let off. I am against the BJP government's policies and will never vote for them,"  he said. A girl student belonging to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Attukal,  was hopeful of scoring more than 70 marks out of 80. But the question paper leak has upset her plans. "My mind is blank about economics  from the moment the exams got over. I will take  the entrance exam for Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT) on June 27," she said.
