Hi-tech poultry farm unit at Chathamangalam

KOZHIKODE: The government has opened a hi-tech regional poultry farm centre at Chathamangalam in Kozhikode district with facilities, including advanced office building, training centre, poultry exhibition centre, hi-tech poultry houses, rest rooms for the workers, staff quarters and amenities for farmers.

The project was completed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore with the support of the district panchayat. Earlier during the first phase of the project, a new building, poultry sheds, generator rooms and rain water harvesting facility were completed in the 5.7 acres of land.

The centre was started in 1962 and upgraded to regional centre in 1982.

The regional centre takes care of the requirements of poultry farmers in Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad district. District panchayat president Babu Parassery said that the government would start advanced poultry farms in every district and its sub-centre in every assembly constituency.
The centre is also open to the general public, especially students, to understand the activities here.
