Kotttayam: The MG University syndicate will  discuss the functioning of self-financing institutions and the fate of School of Medical Education under the university at a meeting on January 17.

Syndicate member K. Sharafuddin told DC that  attempts will be made to address the concerns of the students’ organisations about the centres  under the SMEs. They have been striking against the alleged cancellation of the admissions to the centres.

The SFI demanded that the SME centres  should be handed over to the Health University. They will conduct a march to the MG University demanding protection for  the SME on January 17.

“The students studying at the SME  centres of Kottayam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam will participate in the march,”  said SFI district president Rijesh Babu. He alleged that the university was  trying to cancel the courses on the ground of financial liability.
