Hyderabad: Free parking facilities at the exhibition grounds has been reduced this year. This year only two places have been allotted for free parking and most vehicles are crammed into each other. Free parking is available on the road opposite to the numaish grounds, and by the side of the main entrance.

Moreover, the parking app getmyparking.com which was launched by IT minister K.T. Rama Rao is not functional. The app was launched to ease the problems of visitors, so that they can book their parking slot well in advance. But the dysfunctional app and no free parking at different places has left visitors disappointed.

Mr Shashant Kumar, a software engineer who came for the first time on Sunday, said that last year there were better arrangements for free parking. The spaces near Adaab hotel were allotted for free parking, but now it is charged Rs 20. Moreover, the Gagan Vihar building opposite the exhibition grounds has not been opened for parking till now.

Mr Vijay Kumar, a volunteer said, “This year many people are asking about free parking and we tell them that there is only limited space for it. There is a lot of confusion among visitors on free parking.” They have also downloaded the app and are coming to us for assistance, but we tell them to wait for a few days, added Kumar.

Meanwhile, the exhibition society expects the app will be up and running in within a week. Mr Aditya Markam, secretary of the exhibition society, said that the main problem was arranging the coordinates with neighbouring buildings. Once that is done the issue will be sorted out. “We also tried to get the same free parking slots like previous year, but it was not successful,” added the secretary.
