CM Jagan Launches Durga Temple Development Works Costing Rs 206 Crore

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched a slew of development projects worth Rs 216.05 crore on Indrakeeladri, the abode of Goddess Kanakadurga, here on Thursday.

The chief minister said the government aimed at development of the Durga temple by providing it with all necessary facilities and amenities.

He laid the foundation stones for construction of a Rs 15 crore staircase in front of the Rajagopuram, a Rs 13 crore elevated queue complex, a Rs 27crore Anna Prasadam Potu (kitchen), a Rs 7crore Puja Mandapam, a Rs 30crore Anna Prasada Bhavanam and a Rs 23.50 crore additional queue complex on the south side.

He also laid stone for a Rs 33core multi-level car parking facility, a Rs 7.75crore Maharaja Dwaram at Kanakadurga Nagar entrance, a Rs 7.5crore Rajamarg, a Rs 18.30crore remodelled queue complex at Mallikarjuna Mahamandapam, a Rs 5 crore granite yagasala, a Rs 19 crore complex for devotees’ hair offerings and a Rs 10 crore multi-facility complex that includes a cowshed.

The chief minister launched the Malleswara Swami Vari temple constructed at a cost of Rs 5.60 lakh and the eight temples reconstructed with an expenditure of Rs 3.87crore besides inaugurating the Rs 4.25crore Indrakeeladri protection system, the Rs 3.25crore water management and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, the Rs 5.66crore solar power station and the temples of Vinayaka and Anjaneya constructed on the step-way.

Endowments minister Kottu Satyanarayana said the Durga temple was being developed with a comprehensive plan at an estimated cost of Rs 225 crore. The repair works of the temple would be carried out without causing any inconvenience to the devotees.

A four-storey automatic car park is being erected as a permanent solution to the traffic and parking woes. We are taking precautions to avoid landslides. A ramp will be built for the unused queues and this would be put into use,” stated the minister.

Minister Satyanarayana said the state government has given funds of Rs 70 crore to develop the Durga Temple with state funds as well as Devasthanam funds.

“Development works will be done on par with what the TTD does, as per the masterplan. The work will be completed within 18 months.”

Later, the chief minister had darshan of Goddess Kanakadurga and received the blessings of Vedic pandits. Officials gave the CM the Prasadams and presented him a portrait of the goddess.

On arrival, Jagan Reddy was welcomed with Poornakumbham by archakas of the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam. Endowments minister K Satyanarayanaa,  home minister T Vanita, MLAs V Srinivas and M Vishnu, Mayor R Bhagyalakshmi,  MLC Mahammad Rohulla, Mahila commission  chairperson Vasireddy Padma, YSRC leader Avinash and temple trust board chairman Rambabu were present.
