Kochi: The High Court on Thursday wondered what right BJP leader K. Surendran has to inspect the age of the women coming to Sabarimala. The judge orally observed that Surendran should understand that not only he but others too have constitutional rights and that they should not be tampered with.

The court was considering a petition filed by Surendran seeking bail in a case registered by the Sannidhanam police accusing him of preventing a woman and her son from worshipping Lord Ayyappa. The court at one point also observed that Surendran cannot be kept in custody for ever. The court posted the case for Friday for giving  verdict.

Surendran argued that police had charged sections for attempt to murder even when the petitioner Mridul Kumar mentioned minor injury to them in his petition. The government pleader informed the court that there are evidences against Surendran and that they had plotted an uprising against the Supreme Court verdict.
