Centre, Telangana begin blame game on urea

Hyderabad: Whether it is the failure of the state government or Centre, the fact is farmers in all districts are facing hardships in getting urea after standing in queues for hours together.

On Friday, woman farmer Balawat Sobha, who stood in a queue since the early morning at Indalwai Primacy Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) in Nizamabad district fell unconscious.

She was admitted to the Nizamabad government hospital. It may be recalled a farmer, Yellaiah in Dubbak, died on Thursday while he standing in a long queue for urea.

While TRS and BJP leaders continue to blame each other for the shortage of urea, Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Friday entered the fray and faulted the state government.

Mr Reddy, Union minister of state for home, said the TRS government was making false allegations regarding urea shortage. The Central government had sent 50 per cent of required urea to the state immediately after it had forwarded a request.

Mr Reddy said that within three or four days, the remaining 50 per cent of the urea will reach the state. He alleged that the state government has no proper plan in supplying urea to farmers.

Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union minister for food procession, during a visit to Nizamabad district said that the Centre had allotted sufficient urea to Telangana state.
